Just got this e-mail from a friend int eh history department. Dated Thursday, March 3:
A bill to eliminate four end-of-course tests in North Carolina high schools is heading to Gov. Beverly Perdue, who says she won't veto the measure despite a judge's warning about its unconstitutionality. The General Assembly gave final approval Thursday when the bill passed the Senate by a wide margin. The measure is designed to respond to complaints from teachers and parents that the curriculum is too inflexible and students are too often taught to be good test takers.
