My AP just told us this morning that the state and the federal government have two different viewpoints now on the grading. Here is what this means for us: 1. Students no longer fail if they make a 1 or 2. Their grade on the EOC will count as 25% of the final grade and they pass or fail based on if they make a 70 or higher on the grade in your class with that averaged in. 2. AYP, however, remains based on the score of a 3 or 4. So if a student makes a 1 or 2, they still need to take the retest, even if they would pass anyway. Why? There were a high number of teachers abusing the waiver policy, so the has altered the grading. Unfortunately, without the you must make a 3 carrot, teachers need to get ready for an AYP hit. In my opinion. What's your thoughts? Have you heard anything different?

To make things more fun:
The policy above is STATE POLICY; however, most LOCAL BOARD POLICIES still have the old wording. So... if your local board is like mine and has not changed yet, then you have conficting policies and now what happens?
Has anyone else run into this?
