Just a thought of how to spread this web site around. I've tried to send out e-mails to high schools, but that is slow going. I found a web site that lists all the high schools in North Carolina. I use that to find their web site and then, if I can, I find a ninth grade teacher and send them the link. I need a faster way to get this news out. Any suggestions?
Would be great if you sent out an e-mail with a link to the other high schools in your district!

Mark, I already emailed the link to several people, but I plan to make a system-wide email this weekend. Just needed the time. I LOVE the site, and am so thankful to have found it.
Sincerely, Kelly

Just a thought. If you find this to be at all helpful and you have a web site, put a link on your site. Google looks at many things when ranking a web page and one of them is how many people link to it.

Thank you for this site --Jan I took over two classes that are low performing with two to three time repeaters. This site has been most helpful. Thank you --I will try to spread the word- I just found out that we are not allowed to use actual test samples for practice review--unlike ny --please confirm this.

It is my understanding that if they release test samples, then we can make use of them in the classroom. Otherwise, I cannot see why they would release them. The test samples I have came from the NCDPI. and they did not come with a warning not to use them.
The most recent release, test form I from 2009, is PDF protected, but I think that is because of the copyright issues with the reading passages.
Obviously we cannot make copies of the test and use that. Just out of curiosity, what reason was given for not using test samples?

Cool - I just found out that we've been ranked ninth in the IRazoo lists for North Carolina Reading Tests sites. I have no idea what that is or how they found us, but hey - the more the link gets out there, the more teachers find it and the better chance we have of getting more materials for the site. www.irazoo.com/PopularSites/NCDPI-Reading-Test.aspx

I have just found what goldpeniii was referring to in our - no kidding - 1 and a half hour long EOC Administrator training session. I have now gone through practically every word in the administrator's manual. In it is says exactly that - test questions are not to be used. However, it means only actual test questions, not the released copies that we have access to here. Copying items from the test is a fast way to get fired.

The EOC Underground site will stay up next year (2012), but it will not be updated after this school year (2011-2012) since the EOC, theoretically will no longer be in place as we move to the Common Core standards. Instead, I'll be updating a new site that I'm starting in honor of the Common Core. It is called Hard Core English Teacher and can be found at www.hardcoreenglishteacher.blogspot.com
